Description
This is a very exciting inaugural event for ILR in Sun City. Only in 2023 was the Butterfield Overland National Historic Trail designated by the United States Congress and is now administered by the National Parks Service. Interpretive markers and kiosks are being established along the Arizona segment which included 26 stage stations 15.5 miles apart. The entire trail is 3000 miles long from the Mississippi River to California and carried passengers, freight and mail in the 1850s.
This five week series involves the major researchers and developers of the Arizona trail and is supported by the Arizona Chapter of the Butterfield National Historic Trail Association.
