Presenter:  Mark Schwartz is a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel with 1550 flying hours in the F04 Phantom and was embedded in Army units for close air support duty.  His aerospace industry career spanned over30 years with aircraft companies like Northrop and Lockheed.  Mark currently heads the SaddleBrooke WWII Roundtable; he has taught at SaddleBrooke’s ILR, Osher Lifelong Learning, Pima Air Museum and has been a SaddleBrooke resident for 11 years.

Description

This course delves into logistic design and performance, the advanced technologies and their successful application in combat systems.  America not only outproduced Germany and Japan in quantities of aircraft, tanks and ships but also led in developing key wartime technologies and logistics, making very reliable maintainable weapon systems and keeping supplies moving to the front line.  Radar provided a definite edge in air and sea combat; computers helped break enemy codes and revolutionized weapon targeting and guidance; the Manhattan project propelled the world into the atomic age.
