Alan Kruse is a very popular ILR presenter, former owner of Kruse tours, docent at the Tucson Presidio, huge fan of an array of musical venues and admits to a collection of over 2500 cds.

Description
This class will focus on the years 1954-59. Topics include the roots and influences on rock ‘n’ roll (blues, gospel, country), record companies (Sun, RCA, Chess), the giants (Elvis, Pat, Ricky, Fats, Buddy, Little Richard, Jerry Lee, Chuck and Don and Phil), the obscure (Ersel Hickey, Charlie Feathers) and the in-betweens (Dell Vikings, Jackie Wilson. Also included disk jockeys (Alan Freed, Dick Biondi, Cousin Brucie), Dick Clark and the American Bandstand, rockabilly (Carl Perkins, Johnny Burnette Trio) doo wop (Five Satins, Aquatones, cross-over and cover versions, novelties and rock ‘n’ roll movies will also be covered.
