2 in stock

This two session course will look at the careers of several rock ‘n’ roll’s pioneers culminating in the place crash of February 3, 1959.  Buddy Holley’s works and innovations inspired and influenced contemporary and later musicians notably the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan and exerted a profound influence on popular music.  Ritchie Valens was the forefather of the Chicago rock movement and both musicians are in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.  Much debate has occurred over what was the first rock ‘n’ roll record.  Was it “Rock Around the Clock”?  Starting with the year 1956, the course will profile some of the most important and influential recordings.

Presenter:  Alan Kruse, popular Southwest tour leader and super fan of Rock ‘n’ Roll music.

2 Mondays at 9:00 a.m. in February, the 5th and 12th in the Activity Center’s Hopi Room.
