Native Seeds/Search (NS/S) is a Tucson-based nonprofit dedicated to conserving the crop diversity of the Southwest by safeguarding nearly 2,000 varieties of crops adapted to arid landscapes, representing the cultural heritage of indigenous communities and early settlers, plus the wild ancestors of domestic plants. The facility is located on the historic Binghampton/Mormon settlement properties on the Rillito River. We will see volunteers working in the gardens, cleaning and processing seeds, and be able to go into the cold seed bank itself.
Lunch nearby after the tour. Trip leader: Diana Holmes, [email protected]
