We no longer live in the U.S. that we once knew. We now are facing dysfunctional politics, COVID, 2022 mid-term elections, the 2024 presidential elections, war in the Ukraine with the real threat of nuclear weapon exchange, an emerging military and economic threat from China, the prospect of serious and prolonged inflation and possible recession. How did we get here? What are the major issues? How and who is going to lead us out of this situation in a changed world?

Don Shepperd, Major General USAF (ret) is a graduate of the Air Force Academy with 39 ½ years in military service having flown 247 fighter combat missions in Vietnam. He retired in 1998 after nine years in the Pentagon as head of the Air National Guard so he knows how the sausage is made. He has had significant experience in Washington, DC working with Congress and state governors and spent six years covering the Mid-East wars on screen for CNN as a Military Analyst. He and his wife are mad and ever-hopeful fans of  U of A men’s and women’s basketball. Don has previously presented five courses for SCOV ILR on the Mid-East and U.S. Politics.
