The year is 1991. The USSR has disintegrated. The cold war is over. Russia will join the family of nations and conduct itself as friend not foe. Time passes, Putin is in power and Russia reverts to its old habits. Why can’t they behave? Why did we expect a different pattern of behavior?
This course will examine the origins of Russia foreign policy and the reasons behind its behavior from the origins of Russia to the present day of Putin.
